For some, a single session is all that is required.
Robert was called as a legal witness for a close friend. He wanted feedback on his manner of speaking. In a single session, he learned how to be more persuasive in the defense of his friend.
Julie came for an assessment of her speaking style. All her life she had been speaking publicly, especially while serving elected office. This was the first time she had received help from a speech coach. We reviewed a short speech she was giving in the next few weeks and made improvements where needed. The difference was dramatic.
For others, more extensive work may be necessary. Together, we create specific goals and prioritize them according to your needs. Speech training is about building competence in one skill and then moving to the next.
Kent was a broadcaster whose boss was concerned that the viewing audience saw Kent as “cold.” Soon, we discovered he carried old shame from childhood teasing and stiffened his facial muscles to cope. Through six sessions, he worked with exercises, reviewed videotapes of himself, and altered his broadcast presence.
Rachel had a falsetto voice compounded by tense shoulders and neck. She had a perpetual smile and held her body tight and gestures small. Through videotaping, physical/vocal exercises, and frank conversations about perceptions of women, Rachel was able to experience the power of her voice and better channel her energy.
Margaret wanted to vocally reflect the confidence and power she felt. Right away, we discovered the resonance of her voice was missing from its core. Beginning with a series of subtle exercises, she gradually built needed vibration. Chanting and sound exercises helped bring full resonance into her core. Her voice felt liberated!
