Ask Yourself
If you are wondering whether or not speech coaching is right for you, here are a few questions to consider.
- Are you a successful communicator on the job? With your friends and loved ones?
- Do you love your voice?
- Has your boss said “Your voice needs work” but you don’t hear it?
- When you’re on the phone, do people mistake you for a child?
- Do people misinterpret you because your tone does not communicate your meaning?
- Is your voice your paycheck?
- Do you wish people would take you more seriously (or not)?
- When you talk do people ask you to speak up or do they frequently say “what”?
- Do you hold back from opportunities to speak up?
- Are you a good storyteller?
- Do you often find out after explaining something that people haven’t paid attention?
- Do people ask you to slow down when you speak?
- Does your voice seem weak or sound thin?
- Do you engage your body too when you speak?
- Are there times when you begin to speak and nothing comes out?
- Does your voice and speaking presence communicate your confidence and authority?
